The launch of Shopify Ping will enable e-commerce platform merchants to run their businesses no matter where they are.
Ping will bring together customer conversations and marketing feeds on websites, Facebook Messenger or SMS with a smart assistant called Kit on Apple's iOS mobile platform. Shopify (NYSE: SHOP) continues the mobile segment, as half of its 600,000 merchants use the company's mobile app.
These traders are in the vast majority of cases small businesses that use the platform to process their e-commerce and in many cases also their retail payment system. With Ping, they can communicate directly with their customers and respond to any request or problem on the spot to provide a superior customer experience.
On the Shopify blog, the company said that Ping's goal is to provide a new way for merchants to run their business. He goes on to say, "Now you can spend less time between separate tools and more time on what matters most: serving your customers and growing your business."
Conversations at one place
With Shopify Ping, all the conversations you have in your email applications will be available in one place under a single mobile application. This will allow you to respond quickly and easily to your customers and build better relationships. And best of all, you can do it from anywhere because it's on your mobile device.
Currently, the conversations you have on Facebook Messenger, Rep.ai and Chatkit will be available in one application.
What about the kit?
Kit is an integrated wizard that will help you plan, create and manage your marketing. According to Shopify, Kit will launch your Facebook and Instagram ads, email marketing, retargeting campaigns and more based on the information you collect in the messages.
The virtual assistant can also perform complicated workflows, including product image edits, find new products to add to your inventory and more.
