The native of Utah Ryan Jasperson and other members of the Tezos community officially launched the T2 Foundation. The mandate of the new foundation is to support the launch of the Tezos network "… if the Tezos Foundation is unable to do so adequately and timely".
Ending the infighting struggle
The head of the Tezos Foundation, Johann Gevers, was accused of slowing down the development of the project. Fortunately, Gevers has published a blog post via Medium saying that he intends to leave Tezos.
Gevers has since taken up his post. However, a subsequent statement confirmed that he will stick to the plan. It seems that even if Gevers strives to bring clarity to the community, he fails.
Gevers has struggled to make friends in the Tezos community since October. A Reuters report highlights several disagreements between Gevers and Arthur and Kathleen Breitman. The husband and wife tandems are the leaders of the Tezos development team and the company behind the project, Dynamic Ledger Solutions.
Despite the fallout, Arthur Breitman maintains that the beta version of the Tezos blockchain could be launched in the next five weeks if impending legal issues can be resolved sooner rather than later. It also confirms that the development of the project is progressing considerably. This is despite the fact that developers are expecting adequate compensation from the Gevers-led foundation.
T2 Foundation in peace
The T2 Foundation will have seven board members, including Jasperson, who spent about $ 50,000 of his own money to launch the T2 Foundation and the Swiss Association, the Tezos Protocol Association. and the ecosystem.
Olaf Carlson-Wee, director of the cryptocurrency hedge fund Polychain Capital, also joins the board of directors. Wee has been a major player in the project since September 2016. He first wrote a letter in December indicating his interest in joining the original Tezos Foundation.
Less than two months later, it seems that Carlson-Wee, Jasperson and the rest of the Tezos community are ready to take control of Tezos.
While the precarious situation of the two different foundations of Tezos seems to be slowly resolving, the development of the protocol continues to go forward. The internal functioning of its development is exposed to the public and its significant progress is underway.
This is great news for the project as it aims to revolutionize blockchain technology through its chain governance model.
It's too bad that computer code does not get rid of off-channel governance issues.
